Country Blues & Brews: THE PITCHFORKS

Wednesday May 7th

THE PITCHFORKS is an all-star band of San Francisco Bay Area professional players. Collectively, they have played well over 5,000 gigs. They have gathered together to play some good ole’ honky-tonk music! With a huge emphasis on vocals and creativity, this band plays these songs because they love them. They are not trying to “copy” the original so much as show reverence to them by putting their own heart and style into it. Fronted by vocalists, Shawna and Cory Hervé of Twin Soles, and featuring the pedal steel player for Mazzy Star, The Pitchforks are a local band not to be missed!

They’ve been packing dance floors, clubs, bars, and listening rooms for a decade in Northern California’s lively country scene. With a beautiful 70’s-era voice, Jill Rogers connects with audiences through her original songs, which are often about love at the edge of dissolution, or a look back at what might have been. Backing her up, Crying Time is a musicians’ band, with a deep bench of accomplished players known for the variety and dynamism they bring to their interpretations of the classics and Jill’s beautiful, sad songs.

Southern Nights: THE FAMILIAR STRANGERS

Friday May 30th

THE FAMILIAR STRANGERS play an Americana grab bag of roots music from western swing to classic country, blues rock, swing jazz and even a little bit of gypsy jazz! Imagine Bob Wills and John Hiatt get in a car with Chuck Berry and they pick up a hitch hiking Dolly Parton! It's kinda like that!

This band generates a big response from audiences with their friendly banter and responsiveness to requests from audience members. This is a band with a sense of humor that can easily move between material designed to get you up on your feet dancing or tugging at your heart to buy another drink and lose your sorrows.

The band is comprised of top shelf veterans of the bay area music scene. Drawing from such well known bands/performers as Commander Cody, Maria Muldaur, Laughing Gravy, San Geronimo, The Rhythm Rangers, Clint Black, Shirley Bassey & more.

Since their inception in a few short years ago they have developed a loyal following that crops up at the clubs, festivals, special events and parties the band regularly appears at. The band appears as a full 6 piece groupm or as a trio, depending on the needs of the venue.

Candy Girard – fiddle, vocals & killer smile

Matt Davis – bass, vocals & infectious friendliness

Kevin Russell – guitar, vocals & set list maker

Sean Allen –guitar pyrotechnics, lap steel, vocals

Tim Gahagan – percussion, drums, snappy dresser

Dave Zirbel – pedal steel guitar, best band beard

The band recently celebrated their second recorded project, which has proven to be a critical success. And, though they do much more than simply country, they were voted Best Country Band in Sonoma county for 2023!

Southern Nights: KEYSTONE CANYON

Saturday May 31st

From the hills and hollers of Northern California comes a country/Americana/folk-rock trio called Keystone Canyon, whose members are longtime friends with decades of experience playing various kinds of music. Imagine old-school country songs, bluegrass and a bit of old-time rock and roll, played on two acoustic guitars, with three lead singers and three-part harmonies, and you’ll have a good idea of what to expect from this exciting trio.

While usually performing as an acoustic trio, depending on the venue and what is desired, KC can also expand to an electric quartet or quintet with drums and pedal steel.

Two of the members – Larry Carlin and Claudia Hampe – also have a duo called Keystone Crossing. With guitarist Gary Bauman also singing lead and harmony, the trio offers up quite the variety in sounds and styles.

As a result, at any Keystone Canyon show you are likely to hear a melodious mix of Merle, Hank, Johnny, Patsy and Emmylou, along with Creedence, The Mavericks, CSN&Y, The Byrds, and the Dead.

The Stomp Kings Blues and retro rock, with a touch of Rockabilly, a little jump, a bit a swing, and a whole lotta fun! Lead singer, Brad Wilson, grew up in a musical family, with his dad singing on the radio, and his older brother, Kim Wilson, going forward to form The Fabulous Thunderbirds. It’s in the family! National recording artist, Derek Irving, has played with many of the greats. A legend in his own right, he shines on stage.
